The Universities of Malaga and Seville use OpenGnsys to deploy macOS devices.
These devices do not allow booting via PXE, so they boot from the hard drive with a minilinux that requests the boot configuration via tftp. The server will send the PXE configuration for the OpenGnsys client to boot and display the home page.
To start a session from OpenGnsys, it will be necessary to restart the boot with grub, and it will go directly to the partition containing the operating system.
To deploy macOS, when creating the image, we only need to take the precaution of disabling the “journal” on the model device, and when restoring, the default post-configuration of OpenGnsys prepares the operating system correctly.
The use of the console is the same as with any other operating system: it displays the status of the device, allows sending commands to boot, restore, etc.
It is pending to be able to modify the partitions of these devices, as tools to do so from Linux have not been found.
